Puppy Program-Get your puppy off on the right start with expert advice on socialization, housebreaking & manners training, problem-solving, and more!
Comprehensive plans to Desensitize and Counter-condition your dog’s feelings towards triggers that cause Fear, Anxiety, and Stress (vet visits, grooming, strangers, etc.)
Desensitization can be defined as becoming less sensitized overtime to something you don’t like. Counter-conditioning can be defined as strategically pairing something a dog doesn’t like with something they do like in order to change their response to the thing that causes the four “Fs” of Fear: Fight, Flight, Fidget, or Freeze. For example, a dog who might be afraid of ear cleaning would eventually, after proper counter-conditioning, see the ear cleaning bottle and get excited about it! Through training we are able to teach a dog what to expect and allow them to be willing participants in their care, decreasing their FAS and increasing the quality of the care they receive, and their quality of life.
Desensitization and counter-conditioning can also be described as “behavior modification” and can be useful for a myriad of concerns ranging from fear of vet exams, grooming, reactivity on leash, fear/reactivity towards strangers, and so much more.
